    Everything about this album sparkles: the clean, tactile recording, the smooth, mellifluous sound of Paul Desmond's alto sax, the way in which the band plays together in a seamless but complex manner, and the selection of tunes, some of which, like Take Ten /5().

Now Take Ten finally gets the audiophile treatment it deserves, with this gram reissue, mastered from original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman.     I’ve had this as an album in Gift from my older brother. Bought this for his 75th birthday. Paul Desmond wrote Take Five for the Dave Brubeck Quartet. He Re-titled it Take Ten with a great musician lineup. BUY IT!4/5(9).

I have not heard both but given s mastering on the latter Im inclined to think this is more realistic sounding while the may have a bit more bass/5().

    Another prime mids session from the unruffled master of Cool Jazz. Desmond, Jim Hall, Connie Kay and Gene Cherico lay out on a mix of medium swingers, ballads and Bossa Novas. Eugene Wright joins his old Brubeck Quartet cohort on the title track, which puts a sneaky Eastern spin on Desmond's famous "Take Five.".
